Great Migration

Tarangire - Ngorongoro - Serengeti Migration Camps

Embarking on a Private Safari: Exploring Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater, and Serengeti with the Magnificent Great Migration at Sayari Safari Camp or Ubuntu Safari Camp.

Tanzania's national parks are renowned for their breathtaking landscapes and abundant wildlife, making it an ideal destination for an unforgettable safari adventure. For those seeking an intimate and exclusive experience, a private safari through Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater, and Serengeti, with a highlight of witnessing the Great Migration, offers an unparalleled journey into the heart of Africa.

One of the best ways to enjoy this extraordinary expedition is by staying at Sayari Safari Camp or Ubuntu Safari Camp. Nestled amidst the stunning wilderness, these luxury accommodations provide a seamless blend of comfort and immersion in nature.

Tarangire National Park, the first stop on this extraordinary adventure, mesmerizes visitors with its vast savannahs, ancient baobab trees, and the meandering Tarangire River. Renowned for its large elephant herds and diverse wildlife, Tarangire offers unique sightings of lions, leopards, giraffes, and a plethora of bird species. A private safari grants you the freedom to explore the park at your own pace, away from the crowds, and truly connect with the natural surroundings.

Next, the journey leads to the iconic Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This remarkable volcanic caldera shelters an array of wildlife within its walls. Here, you can witness the Big Five, including lions, elephants, buffaloes, rhinoceroses, and leopards, in their natural habitat. The dramatic landscapes and the breathtaking descent into the crater will leave you awestruck.

Continuing the expedition, you'll venture into the Serengeti, Tanzania's crown jewel. The Serengeti is famous for its endless plains and the legendary Great Migration, where millions of wildebeests, zebras, and other herbivores traverse the landscape in search of greener pastures. Observing this awe-inspiring spectacle is an experience like no other, and a private safari allows you to witness this natural phenomenon up close and in seclusion.

Sayari Safari Camp and Ubuntu Safari Camp provide exclusive and luxurious accommodations amidst these extraordinary locations. From elegantly designed tents with en-suite bathrooms to personalized service and gourmet dining, these camps ensure a comfortable and unforgettable experience in the wilderness.

A private safari through Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater, and Serengeti, culminating with the Great Migration, is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. It offers the perfect blend of luxury, exclusivity, and immersion in nature, allowing you to create lasting memories and forge a deep connection with the African wilderness. Whether you choose Sayari Safari Camp or Ubuntu Safari Camp, you can expect an extraordinary journey that will stay etched in your heart forever.

Best time to see the Great Migration

The Serengeti Great Migration is an annual event that takes place from July to October, making it the best time to witness this incredible natural wonder. This is the time when millions of animals, including wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles, move in search of fresh water and grazing lands, following the rains and the growth of new grass.

During this period, the herds start from the southern Serengeti, where the wildebeests give birth to their young, and gradually move northwards, crossing the Grumeti River and the Mara River, which forms the border between Tanzania and Kenya. Once the herds have crossed the Mara River, they enter the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya, where they spend several months grazing on the lush grasslands before making their way back to the southern Serengeti for the calving season.

If you want to witness the Serengeti Great Migration, it is important to plan your trip during this period, as it is the best time to see the herds moving in large numbers and crossing the rivers. This is an experience that you will never forget, as you witness one of the most spectacular wildlife events on the planet.

Visiting the Serengeti Great Migration in January, February, and March  is a different experience as it is the calving season, and over 500,000  wildebeest calves are born.
However, this period is less ideal for  seeing the herds move across the plains, as they tend to stay in one  place for grazing and protecting their young. Despite this, it is still a  great time to see the new born calves and predators such as lions,  cheetahs, and hyenas preying on the young animals. It is important to  plan your trip according to your interests and preferences to make the  most of your experience.
