ENDELEVU in Swahili means "Sustainable".

It is not only part of our company name, but also our mission to achieve with our guests Responsible & Sustainable Safaris.

Tanzania is known for its vast landscapes, diverse wildlife, and breathtaking natural beauty.
It is one of the most popular destinations in Africa for safari tours, drawing in thousands of visitors each year.

However, as tourism grows, so does its impact on the environment.
To ensure the preservation of Tanzania's ecosystem and support the local communities, sustainable safaris are becoming increasingly popular. In this article, we will discuss the concept of sustainable safari in Tanzania and how it benefits both the environment and the local communities.

What is Sustainable Safari?

Sustainable safari is an eco-friendly approach to safari tourism that focuses on preserving the natural environment, wildlife, and supporting local communities. It involves responsible tourism practices that promote conservation, sustainability, and cultural awareness. A sustainable safari operator aims to minimize the negative impact of tourism while maximizing the positive impact on the environment and the local communities.

Benefits of Sustainable Safari in Tanzania

1. Conservation of Wildlife

Sustainable safari operators prioritize the conservation of wildlife and their natural habitats. They promote responsible game viewing practices that minimize the disturbance to the animals and their environment. Additionally, they support conservation efforts such as anti-poaching initiatives, wildlife monitoring programs, and habitat restoration projects.

2. Preservation of Ecosystems

Sustainable safari operators recognize the importance of preserving the natural ecosystems of Tanzania. They implement sustainable practices such as using renewable energy sources, reducing waste, and conserving water. They also support community-led conservation projects that promote the sustainable use of natural resources.

3. Support for Local Communities

Sustainable safari operators work closely with local communities to support their economic, social, and cultural development. They prioritize local employment, sourcing of goods and services, and community-based tourism initiatives. Additionally, they support education and health programs, infrastructure development, and cultural preservation projects.

Social (People)

Endelevu is taking care of its people with respect and fair salaries.

Sustaining the local communities
We choose lodges and camps that are active with the local community and sustain them (schools, employment,....).
The revenue and profit generated by the company are reinvested in Tanzania and do not leave the country.

Bringing along an open attitude
What our guest will see is very different from where they live. Do not judge instead, be open minded.

Ask your guide and accept that there is a different way of living.

Economic (Profit)

When profit is generated, it is our goal to reinvest in Tanzania and support directly local projects and communities

Environment (Planet)

As planet we intend Tanzania wildlife and nature having full respect (see below).
We intend to offer tours with lodges and camps that follow a sustainable aproach.

Respecting the animals
When on tour, keeping the correct distance and never block their pathway when they intend to cross the road.

Staying quiet when observing the animals
The car itself is already a stress factor and we will switch-off the engine to observe the animals. Speaking quietly in the car and not shouting is the best behaviour to observe them

Avoiding to feed animals
Our food and fruits are not natural for them and could disturb their metabolic system.
Animals know their environment and will find the food they need by themself.
